July 2010 New Home for this website! Not all the full sized pictures are loaded yet!

In a fit of insanity, I aquired a sailboat. Years ago I had a small sailboat and always wanted another. Well, the chance to get one cheap came up, I now live fairly close to the Cheasapeak, so I figured Why Not.

As to the name Rummage, the guy I bought the boat from had bought it at a church rummage sale... What else could I name it?

This started out to be a very low bucks project. The boat was sitting on jackstands in a boatyard, but since it has a pretty shallow draft the plan was to move it to where I live, since I have a lot of room for this foolishness.

I figured on doing the bottom painting at the boatyard and then moving the boat to my house. I found a used boat trailer that needed new wheels and some modifications to support the boat. It looked do-able.

But, of course, things just didn't work out. I got bottom paint (cheap) but found I just didn't have the time to get to the boatyard and do the work. I was paying for storage and not getting any use out of the boat.

A friend of mine expressed some interest in the boat. He felt he could modify the trailer and we struck a deal. The only catch was that he was in North Carolina and I was in Maryland. We finally got the trailer modifications done at my house. I hauled the trailer to the boat yard and got the Dolphin loaded. It actually fit! My friend drove up from North Carolina a few days later and hauled the boat back to his house.

I figured that was the last of my boat projects....

About a month later, my friend was back - with another boat! He bought it cheap at an auction in Maryland for the rudder and outboard motor. And then he said if I wanted it I could keep it! Well, it was on a trailer, had sails and other than being pretty dirty it was in fairly good shape. I said yes!

I'll be posting pictures and information here as work progresses. 2004 - In the water at last!
