Replaced the burned out original fusebox with a new, non-standard (gasp!)
fusebox and load reduction relays. Relocated the Fireball XR700 control box to
under the dash. Added headlight relays and European-style headlamps.
Traded the stock intake and exhaust for a Monza exhaust and headers. Monza
exhaust system was originally on a 1980 Spitfire and had been lengthened by
about five inches to clear the big rear bumper, so I had to shorten it to fit.
I had the Weber carb and manifold.
The silver foil is a 3/16" closed-cell polyethylene foam core with aluminum
facings on both sides "EZ Cool". Worked well in another car so I figured
I would try it on a Spitfire. This is heat insulation, not sound deadener. Floors
got cleaned up and painted first. Insulated the inside of the tunnel and the floor
pans in the footwells and under the seats. The firewall and transmission tunnel
got insulated with an aluminumized insulation cloth from Longacre Racing Products.
